About Me.
I have personal knowledge of the pain and destruction caused by mental health challenges. My life is a story of spiritual awakening, redemption, and a journey to full recovery from chronic depression, alcoholism, and mental illness.
Early in my adult life, I built a successful career in film and television, financing and producing numerous projects and motion pictures. With that success came the intense pressures of running a publicly traded corporation—managing people, navigating high-stakes decisions, and enduring both major victories and painful failures.
By the age of forty-six, the weight of untreated mental illness and addiction had taken everything from me—my marriage, my children, my business, and my home. Alcohol had devastated my health as well. In 2010, doctors told me I would not survive the day. My liver had completely failed, and there were no remaining medical options. Homeless, broken, and standing at death’s door, I experienced a profound spiritual awakening and encountered the power of a Higher Power for the first time in my life.
Against all odds, I fully recovered. I returned to college at Purdue University, where I pursued my Master’s Degree in Psychology with a focus on addiction, and I became deeply involved in the recovery community.
I am the co-founder of New U Recovery, a residential inpatient treatment center near Park City, Utah, and the founder of The Retreat at Zion in Rockville, Utah, Zion Recovery, and Zion Healing Centers, an organization of outpatient treatment centers with over 35 locations nationwide and growing.
I am the proud father of five children and five grandchildren. I am a public speaker and a regular guest on talk shows, radio broadcasts, and podcasts, and I was honored to be featured on the cover of Recovery Today Magazine in 2018.
Through my treatment centers, educational programs, and personal mentorship, I have helped hundreds of individuals overcome addiction and mental health challenges. My life’s work is devoted to helping others find the same freedom, healing, and purpose that saved my life.
